Diving Deeper into Native Stories of the Southwest with Standards-Aligned Content

Take a deeper dive into the Native Stories of the Southwest channel to find resources that align to AZ history and social science standards and support the NCSS position on Social Studies education that respects and affirms Indigenous Peoples and Nations. During this session we will delve into the content in this collection to explore the first-person stories and learn about Native changemakers’ historic and present-day influence on the arts, STEM, and politics.

Join us as we explore effective strategies for helping students read, comprehend, and synthesize informational text. Explore digital resources to help students cite textual evidence, draw inferences from text and determine a central idea of text.

Fun with Fractions

Discovery Education’s Daily Learning Platform makes learning fractions a fun experience for students at all levels by engaging students with real-world examples and interactives. This session will highlight activities, videos, songs, and images to help students conceptually understand fractions and develop the procedural fluency to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions. Real-world examples will be shared to help students make meaningful connections.

Educators will examine research-based strategies for integrating Discovery Education digital curriculum resources in meaningful, effective, and practical ways. This experiential session will examine various goals for writing to help students understand author’s purpose. Focus will be on helping students write different kinds of texts for different reasons.

Join us as we explore careers in computer science and discover digital resources to share with students to help them investigate the computer science pathway of STEM. Working with English Language Learners to Develop Academic Vocabulary

Acquiring academic vocabulary is a critical component to the overall success of English Language Learners both inside and outside of the classroom. In this session we will present five instructional strategies to help you strengthen the academic vocabulary of your ELL students and create intentional opportunities to promote English language acquisition.
